What actually drives the price?

Four variables move the number more than anything else:

  • Number of core user flows. An MVP with one critical flow (sign up, complete one action, done) costs less than one with three or four flows that all need to work well.

  • Platform count. Web-only is cheapest. Web plus native iOS and Android roughly doubles scope, even with shared design.

  • Design maturity going in. A team arriving with wireframes and a clear feature list pays less than a team arriving with an idea and nothing else, because discovery and scoping take real time.

  • Design and development as one team vs. two. Separate design and engineering vendors introduce handoff time, translation loss, and duplicated project management, all of which show up in the final price.

Why fixed-price quotes vary so much between agencies?

Two agencies quoting the same MVP can land €20,000 apart, and it's rarely about one being more expensive per hour. It's usually one of three things: a smaller agency underscoping the work and planning to bill overages later, a larger agency pricing in account management layers the client never asked for, or a genuine difference in whether design and development happen in parallel or in sequence.

Sequential handoffs (design finishes, then gets thrown to engineering) cost more in practice than parallel work, because engineering questions that should surface during design instead surface after, requiring rework.

What's usually included in an MVP quote

Discovery and scoping (defining exactly what "minimum" means for this product)

  • UI/UX design for the core flows

  • Frontend and backend development

  • Basic QA and a production-ready deployment

What's usually not included, and worth confirming before signing: ongoing maintenance after launch, marketing site or landing page, and support for platforms beyond what was scoped.

Fixed price vs. hourly for MVP work

Hourly billing puts the risk of scope creep on the client. Every "quick addition" during the build adds to the invoice, and there's no ceiling until the project ends. Fixed-price MVP development puts that risk on the agency instead: the price and scope are agreed before work starts, and anything outside that scope is a separate, explicitly priced conversation, not a silent hour-count increase.

For early-stage teams working against a fixed budget or runway, this difference matters more than the headline number.

A rough benchmark

MVP type

Typical range

Single-platform, narrow feature set

From €15,000

Multi-flow product, web or single mobile platform

€20,000–€35,000

Full product, multiple platforms or complex backend

€25,000–€50,000+

These are directional, not quotes. Actual pricing depends on scoping the specific product, not the category it falls into.

Revolt Agency builds MVPs under its Design & Development track: fixed price, fixed scope, from €15,000 for MVP builds and €25,000–€50,000 for full product builds.
